Overview
Dial adjustments on case dimension handwheels provide a very convenient reading of dimension settings for Wexxar machines. Dial adjustment technology is now available for the Wexxar WF-2T, WF-2H, WF-20T, WF-20H, WF-30T and WF-30H case formers. Position indicators can beinstalled for each of the case size adjustment leadscrews. As the handwheel is turned, the number displayed indicates, in inches, the machine setting for that case dimension.
Preliminary Notes
- Turn off the machine power at the main electrical disconnect and discharge all pneumatic power from the machine. Conform to lock-out / tag-out procedures as required by local rules and regulations.
- All screwed fasteners should be prevented from loosening by adding a flat washer closest to the machine part) and a lock washer (closest to the screw head).
- All by bolted fasteners should be prevented from loosening by adding a flat washer on the bolthead end of the fastening and a flat washer and lock washer on the nut end of the fastening.
- All bolted or screwed fasteners should be further prevented from loosening through the application of Loctite. Please consult Wexxar Technical Bulletin #0119 to determine which Loctite formula to use for each of the fasteners.
C’ Adjust Dial Installation
NOTE: If your machine has the ‘C’ adjust drive chain on the outside of the frame, please contact Wexxar at (604) 688-6373.
- Using a 1/8” Allen key, loosen the setscrew which secures the ‘C’ adjust handwheel, and remove the handwheel.
- Using two 9/16” wrenches, remove the two bolts which fasten the ‘C’ adjust leadscrew bearing to the frame. NOTE: If your machine has the leadscrew bearing mounted outside the frame, please contact Wexxar at (604) 688-6373.
- Insert the dial adjust sleeve spacer (PN 53-4546) onto the leadscrew and against the machine frame.
- Place a position indicator mounting plate over the sleeve spacer. Orient the mounting plate such that the third hole is above the leadscrew shaft.
- Using a 3/16” Allen key, attach the leadscrew extender to the end of the leadscrew.
- Using a 9/16” wrench and two of the ⅝” X 1¼” HH capscrews provided, reattach the ‘C’ leadscrew bearing and attach the position indicator mounting plate.
- Rotate the bearing of the position indicator so that the number on its face corresponds with the ‘C’ case dimension setting. For example, the factory setting for a 10” Dimension ‘C’ width would be 01000. NOTE: An effective way to set the position indicator to the correct setting is to place a round rubber piece on the end of a power drill, and, pressing the rotating rubber against the end of the position indicator, turn on the drill at a slow speed until the correct position indicator reading is obtained.
- Slide the position indicator onto the leadscrew and against the mounting plate, and orient it such that the two bolt holes line up with the holes in the bearing. Set the pin in the back of the position indicator into the hole in the top of the mounting plate and push the position indicator firmly into position. Using a 3/32” Allen key, tighten setscrew on its bearing so that it is in position against the mounting plate and its reading remains set to the correct ‘C’ width measure.
- Replace the ‘C’ adjustment leadscrew handwheel over the end of the leadscrew and insert its key into the keyway.
- Using a ⅛” Allen key, tighten the handwheel setscrew to secure the handwheel.
'D2' Adjust Dial Installation
- Using a ⅛” Allen key, loosen the setscrew which secures the ‘D2’ adjust handwheel, and remove the handwheel.
- Using two 9/16” wrenches, remove the two bolts which fasten the ‘D2 adjust leadscrew bearing to the frame.
- Slide the leadscrew spacer provided (PN 53-4546) onto the leadscrew and against the bearing.
- Using a 3/16” Allen key, attach the leadscrew extender to the end of the leadscrew.
- Insert the two flat-head leadscrews provided (PN B03024) into their holes in the position indicator mounting plate.
- Insert the same two leadscrews into the two ‘D2’ adjust spacers (PN 53-4554).
- Insert the same two leadscrews through the frame and through the leadscrew bearing. Use a 3/8” Allen key and a 9/16” wrench to secure the bearing and this part of the assembly to the machine.
- Rotate the bearing of the position indicator so that the number on its face corresponds with the ‘D2’ case dimension setting. For example, the factory setting for a 10” Dimension ‘D2’ width would be 01000. NOTE: An effective way to set the position indicator to the correct setting is to place a round rubber piece on the end of a power drill, and, pressing the rotating rubber against the end of the position indicator, turn on the drill at a slow speed until the correct position indicator reading is obtained.
- Slide the ‘D2’ position indicator over the leadscrew shaft. Set the pin in the back of the position indicator into the hole in the top of the mounting plate and push the position indicator into position. Push the position indicator firmly into position. Then, using a 3/32” Allen key, tighten setscrew on its bearing so that it is firmly in position against the mounting plate and its reading remains set to the current ‘D2’ width measurement.
- Replace the ‘D2’ adjustment leadscrew handwheel over the end of the leadscrew and insert its key into the keyway.
- Using a ⅛” Allen key, tighten the handwheel setscrew to secure the handwheel.
'D1' Adjust Dial Installation
NOTE: If your machine has two sliding doors on the ‘D1’ adjust side, please contact Wexxar at (604) 688-6373.
- Using a ⅛” Allen key, loosen the setscrew which secures the ‘D1’ adjust handwheel, and remove the handwheel.
- Undo and remove the bolts which attach the ‘D1’ bearing to the machine frame.
- Slide the leadscrew spacer provided (PN 53-4546) onto the leadscrew and against the bearing.
- Place the mounting plate of the position indicator (PN 53-4351) in place over the end of the leadscrew shaft. Orient the plate so that the third hole is above the leadscrew shaft.
- Using a 9/16” wrench and two of the ⅜” X 2” HH capscrews provided, reattach the ‘D1’ leadscrew bearing and attach the ‘D1’ position indicator mounting plate on the outside of the frame.
- Rotate the bearing of the position indicator so that the number on its face corresponds with the ‘D1’ case dimension setting. For example, the factory setting for a 10” Dimension ‘D1’ width would be 01000. NOTE: An effective way to set the position indicator to the correct setting is to place a round rubber piece on the end of a power drill, and, pressing the rotating rubber against the end of the position indicator, turn on the drill at a slow speed until the correct position indicator reading is obtained.
- Slide the ‘D1’ position indicator over the leadscrew shaft. Set the pin in the back of the position indicator into the hole in the top of the mounting plate, and push the position indicator into position.
