Overview
As per ECO #5332, all steel and bronze leadscrew nuts used on the Wexxar machines will be replaced with plastic versions.
Models Affected
All Wexxar machine models.
When will this Change Occur?
January 1, 2018.
All Wexxar machines assembled on or after this date will include the plastic nuts and will no longer use steel or bronze nuts.
Why was this Change Made?
To reduce costs, increase performance (when making size change adjustments), reduce the amount of preventative maintenance, and to increase customer usability.
Changes to Machine Maintenance
Since the plastic nuts do not require lubrication, leadscrews will no longer require grease or lubrication of any kind. The use of grease or lubrication will degrade leadscrew performance and may eventually cause the leadscrew to seize, leading to part replacement.
Wexxar machines that use the plastic nuts will have labels indicating that leadscrews are not to be lubricated and similar information will be included in the product documentation.
Service technicians that are involved with customer training are expected to train customers to this new maintenance standard.
