Overview
The leadscrews and bevel bars of the Wexxar Auto-Adjust machines now require lubrication twice a month. There have been reports of the servo couplers (pictured) breaking during auto-adjustment. The cause of this issue has been traced to a lack of lubrication. This preventive maintenance will increase the life of the couplers and help prevent them from breaking.
Lubrication Points
Lubricate the following points twice a month:
- 2 x leadscrews at the D2 adjustment
- 2 x leadscrew at the C adjustment
- 1 x leadscrew and bevel bars at the D1 adjustment
- 1 x leadscrew at the B adjustment
Steps
- Clean the leadscrews and bevel bars: wipe the lead screws and bevel bars with a damp rag.
- Using a brush, lightly lubricate the entire length of the leadscrews and bevel bars.
- Activate the leadscrews to work the grease into the nut. Activate the D1 adjustment to work the grease into the gibs on the bevel bars.
Additional Maintenance
After lubrication, the coupling's cap screws should be checked for tightness. Tighten the cap screws to a torque of 2.3N-m (20.35lbf-ft).
