How to Operate the Machine (BEL 5252)

To start the machine, the Main Disconnect switch must be ON. If not already on, rotate it to the right. Release the Stop switch by rotating it to the right. Push the Start switch. The green light on the start switch will illuminate when the machine is on and ready. For normal operation, be sure the Snap Folder switch is in the ‘Auto’ position.

The BEL 5252 has an energy saving function that will turn off the conveyor if the machine has not cycled within a predetermined time period set in the control. If the automatic turn-off occurs, the green button will flash ON-OFF-ON-OFF to indicate that the machine is in standby mode. To restart the conveyor, push the green ‘START’ button. The button illumination will change from flashing ON to steady ON to indicate that the machine is ready. Open the case blank so that it is square at the corners. Push it straight down into the former section. The machine will fold the bottom flaps and hold the case ready for packing.

Push the case toward the conveyor until it grips the case and takes it into the folding and taping sections. The Snap Folders will automatically fold down the top flaps before tape is applied to the top and bottom of the case.

The former section can fold the bottom flaps and hold cases up to 26” (660mm) long but the Snap Folders can only automatically fold the top flaps of cases up to 22” (559mm) long. For case lengths longer than 22” (559mm), switch the Snap Folders to 'Manual' mode using the selector switch on the pushbutton station. This mode will lock the folders in the extended position. Fold down the top flaps of the long cases by hand and feed the case into the sealer section for taping in manual mode.
