Overview
Shelf-ready display cases must meet these case design requirements to be processed on Wexxar case formers:
Requirements
Requirement | Explanation | Reason |
---|---|---|
A) Extended Top Minor Flaps | The top minor flaps A must be: • Long enough to cover the bottom minor flaps within ¼” of the underside of the bottom minor flaps. • Glued to the bottom minor flaps. | To give a more consistent thickness to the flat case – inconsistent top/bottom thickness will cause magazine feed issues. |
B) Cutouts | The display case must have rectangular cutouts B along the top of each side edge. These cutouts should: • Be rectangular. • Measure 1.5” x the width of the shoulder. • Be separated by 1.5” spaces between each cutout and 2” spaces surrounding each set of cutouts. • Be made without crushing the flutes. | To ensure proper pin insertion into the flutes through the Pin & Dome System. These pins need access to corrugate flutes to "grab" cases for forming. |
C) Seam Cut | The seam C must be slit open so that the fluting is exposed. The slit must extend to within 2" of the case ends. The fluting must not be crushed when cut. | To ensure proper pin insertion into the flutes through the Pin & Dome System. These pins need access to corrugate flutes to "grab" cases for forming. |
D) Angle Cut Overlap (recommended) | The overlap D should be cut at a 45 degree angle on the bottom only. | To help ensure the case does not catch on the other cases in the magazine during loading, separation, and/or injection in the machine’s cycle. |
