Substituting Dekka Tape Heads With 3M Versions
Attn: All Wexxar Sales Team Members Policy on Dekka Tape Head substitution with 3M Tape Heads by customers on the WF-20T and WF-30T machines.
Introduction
Some customers want to substitute our Dekka tape heads for 3M versions.
In the past, we have worked to accommodate those requests. However, we have discovered some circumstances when 3M tapeheads are not compatible with our machines.
We created the following policy regarding when and which 3M tapeheads can be substituted for Dekka tapeheads on our Wexxar machines.
Being aware of this information is essential for setting correct expectations with our customers.
Wexxar Policy
It is OKAY to substitute Dekka with 3M tape heads on the WF-20T and WF-30T machines only if all of these conditions are met:
Conditions | Reasons |
---|---|
Only on WF-20T (Not WF-30T) | 3M tape heads cannot be integrated into our WF-30Ts. Our WF-30 belts are too fast for either the 3M Accuglide II or Accuglide III tape heads. 3M makes a high-speed tape head, but the head size (approx. 3 feet) is not compatible—much too large—for our sealing section. |
Only for 3M Accuglide III (Not 3M Accuglide II tape heads) | 3M’s Accuglide III is more compatible with the speeds of our WF-20 belts. The 3M Accuglide II tape heads are too slow for our WF-20 belts. |
Only with disclosure to customer that: Additional testing will be needed AND M/C delivery time may be affected. | Request for 3M heads are infrequent. Less experience integrating them means fewer guarantees on how they will perform, and more testing time specific to that machine. We do not stock them. Customer must supply. Delays in delivery can affect the machine’s ship date. |
Only for cases of standard height (Not for cases with height under 5 inches) | Cases with undersized height, esp. those under 4 inches, require a Dekka soft-touch tape head. |
The Value of This Policy
- streamline special tape head requests
- handle them more efficiently and effectively for our customers
- help establish correct customer expectations from the onset request
