Introduction

⚠️ To load the tape on your Dekka SE V3 Tape Head, see DEKKA SE V3 Tape Head.

⚠️ Follow the steps below for the Dekka E Tape Head.

The DEKKA Tape Head can be threaded without removing it from the machine. Two methods are used to reload the Tape Head:

  1. SPLICING: Splice the tape when the roll is almost finished. Cut off the old roll’s leading tape end so that it remains in the tape head. Remove the old tape roll and replace it with a new one. Stick the new roll's leading tape end to the old tape end. Pull on the old tape end to feed the new tape end through the feed rollers.
  2. RETHREADING: If the roll has run out of tape or is being fed for the first time, the DEKKA opensided design makes it very easy to feed the new tape. The following Tape Threading Procedure will outline the steps.
  1. The Tape Head's knife blade is very SHARP and can cause serious injury.
    • The Tape Head's knife blade is very SHARP and can cause serious injury.

    • Do not use a knife to cut the tape against the rubber roller. Cuts on this surface will causes problems with tape feeding and create jams.

    • Ensure the tape roll is mounted so the sticky side of the tape faces and adheres to the incoming boxes—the tape roll should rotate in a counter‐clockwise direction when facing the open‐sided feed rollers.

    • If the tape head is mounted in a WEXXAR / BEL tape‐sealing machine, the roll can be often replaced while the tape head is still mounted in the machine. This will save time and reduce handling of the tape head.

  2. Pull the tape roll’s leading end and crumple it into a “rope”.
    • Pull the tape roll’s leading end and crumple it into a “rope”.

    • Thread the rope‐like tape end through the feed rollers according to the arrows in the figure below and on the actual tape head.

    • Pull the tape towards the tape head blade. Hold the tape head roll to stop it from turning, and tension the tape across the blade to cut off the rope‐like portion.
