Instructions
To start the machine, the Main Disconnect switch must be ON. If not already on, rotate it to the right. Release the Stop switch by rotating it to the right. Push the Start switch. The green light on the start switch will illuminate when the machine is on and ready.
Energy Saving Mode
The BEL 5150 has an energy saving function that will turn off the conveyor if the machine has not cycled within a predetermined time period set in the control. If the automatic turn-off occurs, the green button will flash ON and OFF to indicate that the machine is in standby mode. To restart the conveyor, push the green ‘START’ button. The button illumination will change from flashing ON to steady ON to indicate that the machine is ready. To change the automatic shut-off time period, see the adjustment section in Service and Maintenance Procedures for the BEL 5150.
Erecting Cases
Open a case so that it is fairly square.
- Place the open bottom into the former section, pushing the case all the way down until the major flaps contact the floor brackets on both sides.
- The machine will first fold the front and rear minor flaps, then the two major flaps. The case is then held in place and is ready to fill.
- When the case is filled, push it out of the machine’s former / packing station section into the sealer section.
Feeding Cases to the Sealer
First, fold down the top flaps of a filled case by hand. Holding the top flaps closed, direct the case between the infeed guides until it contacts the side belts. The belts grip the case and transport it through the tape heads that apply tape to the top and bottom flaps. Because of the BEL Uni-drive feature, cases presented squarely to the machine will retain this squareness throughout the sealing cycle, providing a stronger seal and better appearance.
